Learn the ancient art of glassblowing at Stafford Art Glass!

What To Wear: All class participants need to wear all-cotton clothing (no synthetic-please check), and shoes that cover and protect your feet (no sandals or flip flops). Clothing should be comfortable but not too loose.
Ages: 13 to adult. For children younger, we adjust involvement based on their development level.
For safety reasons, we do not blow glass when the outside temperature is 80°+
About the Instructor: Parker Stafford began blowing glass at the University of Southern Illinois at Carbondale while studying to receive his M.F.A. in Sculpture in 1994, and except for a seven year stint teaching Sculpture at Radford University, his focus has remained in glass since his graduation from SIU-C in 1996. Parker has taught glassblowing to hundreds of students, many who have never had any glassblowing experience. Parker brings his enthusiasm for the medium to beginners in a way that is easy to understand and works one-on-one with all of his students regardless of class type.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css=”.vc_custom_1556127287861{padding-right: 30px !important;padding-left: 30px !important;}”][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_custom_heading text=”Blow Your Own Pumpkin” use_theme_fonts=”yes”][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]Work with our glassblower to make your own pumpkin. You get to design your own choosing from a broad color range. This is a more involved class and requires each participant to be 13 years or older, but younger children are always welcome to help make design decisions. Your pumpkin is available for pickup 48 hours after having made your piece (it has to cool!).

We cover safety and color application and the techniques to make a suncatcher or ornament. A wide color palette is available and a number of samples are available to help jump start deciding which one to make. Each ornament or suncatcher takes between 15-30 minutes per piece to make.Ornaments must cool in our ovens and are available for pickup the following day. Pick up of your glass is normally after 36 hours. Your glass has to anneal in kilns for the correct time for solid items.

The workshop begins at 10:00 am and goes until 5:00 pm and is currently available on weekends only. Bring a lunch, we have a variety of beverages for you, and water and gator-aide are included while you work.
